Our Magic Lantern Tea Rose

It’s been a cloudy day. We were out front of our house finishing the Christmas  decorating when I spotted a lone blossom on our Magic Lantern tea rose. I brought it inside and placed it in a small bud vase that I bought in New Zealand several years ago. The two together made such a bright spot that I had to post it on Plum Bird Corner. Hope it brings a smile to your face as it does mine.

My Amaryllis is Blooming

On November 13th, I planted an amaryllis bulb and wrote about it. A week later on November 21st, I published an update. to show how it had grown. Please take a look at those posts and you will be amazed to see how quickly the amaryllis grew in a little less than four weeks. Below you can see a photo of the full plant. In my first post I said how the Amaryllis is a wonderful plant to encourage children’s interest in gardening, because it grows so rapidly. It’s not too late, so start an amaryllis growing today.

A Night of Halloween Fun

001

We just finished handing out the Halloween candy. We counted about 100 children, and most were accompanied by parents, or older brothers and sisters. I couldn’t help but notice how polite our young visitors were. I heard a continual chorus of please and thank you’s throughout the evening. It was a fun night. My husband, Martin decorates the house every year and is the main candy server. My job is to hold back our dog Annika, who wants to get out the door and run with the trick-or-treaters. I can’t believe Halloween has come and gone. Next stop, Thanksgiving.
