Today started with the promise of rain, as you can see from this morning’s sunrise. Last Saturday we had a tree removed from our backyard, so it was time for us to put the garden back in order.
These pine needles in the succulent plant are one of the reasons we removed the pine tree. It was an ongoing battle. As soon as we gathered them, the garden was covered again.
Here I’m cleaning that same plant and I’m so happy to know I won’t need to do it again next week.
Martin is laying down the weed guard that will be covered with red rock. We have decided to use container plants only, instead of planting directly into the ground. It also conserves water, especially during the drought, although they tell us El Nino is definitely here. By the way, we never did have any rain. It was a perfect day for working in the yard. Not to hot, or too cold, just right. Tomorrow we will be removing those pesky pine needles from the pile of rock we set aside last weekend. I’m hoping that tomorrow night I will be able to post photos of the finished project. We will have to get an early start. Hopefully the rain will stay away long enough for us to do our work.
