Christmas Cactus, or Thanksgiving Cactus? I’m still not sure, but I’m leaning more towards Christmas, because of the more rounded shape and thickness of the leaves. When I originally bought it many years ago, I probably chose it for the beautiful flowers, and didn’t pay much attention to whether it was a Christmas or Thanksgiving variety. I’m so pleased to be able to show you this lovely flower that is on my Christmas Cactus. Below is a photo of the same plant which I kept in full sun. No wonder it hadn’t flowered in years. It’s a cactus, but originally from Brazil, and it’s much happier in filtered sun.
As you can see, it was quite sad looking when I brought it into the house to nurse back to health, and encourage it to bloom by using the method I described in, Is it Holiday, Christmas, or Thanksgiving Cactus?
Here is a recent photo taken from above and you can see how much healthier the plant looks. There are two more blossoms preparing to open. I’m really happy that I’ve learned the proper care of a Christmas Cactus. It’s been a rewarding experience. I can’t help but wonder what it will look like next Christmas after a year in the correct growing conditions.
