Electric Blue Sage (Salvia chamaedryoides) is a California native plant, and drought tolerant. The small bright blue flowers appear in the spring and continue until fall. The foliage is a peaceful gray-green and the electric blue sage is considered an evergreen perennial. It does well in full sun and partial shade. Mature plants grow 2-3 feet high and are 2-4 feet wide. The Electric Blue Sage is an attractive addition to the garden, year round.

An Afternoon Visit to Los Olivos, California

Lunch in Los Olivos at a quaint cafe. The spinach quiche was delicious.
The Golden State of California

I took this photo from our truck as we travelled to Santa Maria. California is known as the Golden State. In this photo you see a closeup of the golden grasses that cover central California hills, and the Live Oak trees that dot those hillsides, creating the beautiful contrast of green and gold, that I have always loved.
Morning Dew Drops on Our English Rose

It was quite misty this morning, and when I went into the garden, I noticed the water droplets on our English Rose. I wrote a previous post on the Rosa Wenlock,so please take a look if you would like to know more about it. Below is a second photo of this lovely flower.

Depending on the time of day and lighting, the color of the rose blossom can vary from pinkish, to a more purple hue. As I said in my previous post, the Rosa Wenlock is a beautiful addition to any garden.
Today’s Photography Challenge Is Something Smooth
Today’s photography challenge is to photograph something smooth. In my jewellery box I found this brooch, given to me by a patient at the dental office where I worked before retiring. I’m sorry to say I can’t remember his name, but I do remember his face clearly. he had the firmest handshake of anyone I’d ever met. I know he’d once been in the navy, because he’d shared a photo of himself, in his naval uniform with me and my co-workers. He was a much older man by that time, and was learning lapidary, the art of cutting, polishing, and engraving stones. I’m taking part in this photography challenge to improve my photo taking skills, but today I was reminded of someone I haven’t thought about in years.
