Our Scooter Adventure yesterday took us into Silverado Canyon, our first time there since the wildfire that began September 12. The steep canyon walls showed evidence of the fire, but other than that everything seemed untouched. We saw many signs, posted by residents, thanking firefighters for the brave efforts that saved their homes and canyon.
The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot. Silverado Canyon is a beautiful place, almost magical, and my favorite of our nearby canyons. It always feels like Christmas to me as we ride through, its cozy cabins surrounded by lush forest. When we reached the end of the public road, we stopped for a short break, took photos and had a quick snack. Above you see Martin standing in front of his new scooter, a Kymco Downtown 300i. He really enjoys riding it. My Genuine Buddy is behind him.
As we relaxed, the wind suddenly began blowing and dark clouds were heading our way, so we decided to head home in case of rain. Our return ride was every bit as enjoyable as the trip there. We were both relieved to see that the fire had been controlled before this very special place had been destroyed, or any lives lost, and we too want to thank firefighters everywhere for all they do.
