As you saw in my last few posts, we were away for a few days camping, or RVing, which ever you prefer to call it. One of the things I love to do when I get home is wander around my garden and see what’s been happening while we were away. The hydrangeas were beginning to bloom just before we left, and made good progress while we were away. Below is a close up of the same plant. When I bought this plant several years ago, it was blue, but because of the alkalinity of our soil it turned pink the following year. I wrote about this phenomenon in a previous post, A Blue Hydrangea in a New Zealand Garden.
Hydrangeas are really quite amazing, and definitely beautiful whether pink or blue.
