Baby Rubber Plant( Peperomia obtusifolia)

This Baby Rubber plant, (Peperomia obtusifolia) caught my eye. I loved the variegated leaves. The Baby Rubber plant is a compact, tropical houseplant, known for its thick glossy leaves and easy care. Despite the common name, it’s not related to true rubber trees.

Bright indirect light is ideal. In medium light it has a tendancy to grow slower and If not given enough light it can grow leggy.

Place in a well lit room with an east facing windowsill, where it receives soft morning or late afternoon sun. Strong direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.

Overwatering is the most common problem with this plant. Make sure you let the top of the soil become very dry before watering. Well-draining cactus mix works best.

The Baby Rubber Plant is generally considered pet safe, but it’s always best to keep house plants out of reach of pets and children.

Propagation is very easy from stem cuttings rooted in either water or soil. If rooted in water, you can plant it in soil once several healthy roots appear.

There are several color variations of leaves. The patterns can be pale yellow or cream, and the green can range from lime to dark green.

Feed the baby rubber plant once a month during spring and summer, which is the growing season. Use diluted lliquid fertilizer. It is not necesary during the winter months.

I have so many plants, but I am tempted to look for some of the different color variations. I will let you know when I find some. Bye for now.
