Our Plumeria is Blooming


I’ve never been to Hawaii, but as I look at this photo which I took in our front patio area, I feel like I’m there. The plumeria flower’s sweet fragrance and vibrant colors make it one of Hawaii’s iconic symbols. This plant prefers a warm place to grow, preferably 65 to 80 degrees.The plumeria is a fast-growing tropical tree that does well grown in pots. It produces fragrant blooms between March and October. One of my husband’s class mates gave us a plumeria stalk, which we simply planted in an outdoor pot with rich potting soil.I took the photograph below when the plant was beginning to flower. I’d never seen anything like it before, and wasn’t sure what was happening. We were very pleasantly surprised when the flowers began to open. You can see that happening below.
