An Afternoon Spent in a Charming Artist Studio

Yesterday afternoon we attended a delightful reception at a new, up-and-coming artist studio, Co-Z Artist Studio, located in Lake Forest, California and owned by artist Francine Zorehkey. Artist and teacher Donna Hanna-Chase had invited me to the event, held to introduce instructors and to high-light their work.

It was another very hot day here in Southern California, yet the studio was cool and bright. The art work was as beautiful as it was diverse, and the gathering was relaxed and friendly. The reception was scheduled to end at 6:00 p.m., but hosts and guests stayed long after, since it was such a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere, … the perfect place to take classes and become a part of the local art community.

I was surprised that my husband and I had previously crossed paths with many of the artists and guests present, and we realized that one never knows when we’ll encounter an old friend. One featured artist and speaker, Rodrigo Lois, had car-pooled to work with my husband for many years, and he started painting only after retiring. The picture below shows my husband (right) and Rodrigo catching up with each other while discussing one of Rodrigo’s abstract paintings.
